I think these Loon markings are spectacular, so will add them to the mix. I can't think why I overlooked them before.

Several of these tonal studies remind me of a Loon. Since there is a debate going on right now in Canada about choosing a national bird, one of the choices being a Loon - I will find a picture and add it to the blog as it has very distinctive markings which would be interesting to explore further.

I have a large cardboard file 22 X 30 inches in which I store the larger pieces of card that will not fit into my notebook. I have used a notebook to store all my other samples, but it is very fat at one end and wont fit well onto a shelf, so have taken the pages out and put them in a three ring binder which makes them much neater, together with another binder for my notes and odd bits and pieces of templates.
I was particularly cautious of using my heat tool and used both a respirator and a glass board on which to cut the pieces of fabric. I also used a fan to exhaust the fumes outside. I had an upturned flower pot to store the tool when not in use but still hot.
When using the paints, I used both a plastic drop cloth and several layers of newsprint on the table. The bonus of using the newsprint was that they also got nicely painted. I made sure that pins and needles were safely stored. When using my sewing machine, I used good lighting and a clear space so that I could see well and avoid accidents. When using cutting tools I used an appropriate self seal board.
EVALUATION OF COMPLETED WORK:
I am pleased with the way my Resolved Sample turned out, as it has a variety of methods used to convey "Growth and Disintegration", Including padding, repetition of shapes by using machine stitching to echo the shapes, using organza which gave a lacy appearance. I am not sure that I would make many changes as I tried various combinations prior to making a final decision.
LESSONS LEARNED:
Many and varied! In the next Module I will be much better at keeping track of my time. I did a very poor job of it this time. I now have a system of using the timer on my cell phone and will turn it on immediately I sit down to do any work and keep a note both on the time sheet and in my diary to cross reference.
I am trying very hard to use up supplies from my basement, which makes it difficult to cost items that were bought some time ago or inherited from my mothers' stash. I have costed out the supplies from art shops or stores on-line to get a current price. I also now have set up a system of tags that are attached to new fabric coming in to record price and where purchased. I have also started keeping receipts of new tools or supplies as they are bought. It also would be a good idea for the next module to keep accurate notes of what supplies are used as I go along.
I also need to be more disciplined in working during the times available to me. My husband and I have done a lot of travelling in the past year and plan to do as much as we can in the future which means that I have to plan ahead so that I have hand-work or design work that can be done on the move. Also, while it is wonderful to have the time to go off in many directions of interest and try a variety of designs, in order to complete the course on time, I have to be much better disciplined to keep on track. Experimentation is a good thing, but there always need to be some limits. My trip to Australia, New Zealand, and the Cook Islands made a huge dent of time, but I am sure I will be able to use the wonderful experiences and knowledge gained from the many museums and art galleries in future work and designs. I am excited to start the next module as I really like strong contrasts of black and white.
