MODULE 2 - CHAPTER 6 - SHIBORI

SHIBORI

TIE AND DYE

Resist with acrylic circle and clamped

Buttons tied, silk organza

Wrapped around large rope and tied

Small pieces of material pinched and wrapped tightly

I was quite pleased with the wrapped fabric around the large rope.  I had not tried this before and it looks like one to develop further.

TRITIK

Stitched circles then pulled tight

Small pieces of silk organza wrapped tightly

Rows of stitching pulled tight

Rows of stitching pulled tightly

Fabric folded, placed between two pieces of Tyvec and machine stitched

Rows of fabric folded with stitching over the fold

Trritik is my favourite kind of shibori - it can be very labour intensive but I really like the effects.

ARASHI

Disappointing results.  I decided at the last minute to spoon the dye over the fabric; obviously I did not use enough dye.  It is a pretty grey colour, but I had wanted black.   I will try this again and ensure the pole is submersed in the dye.
